With plans to go live early fall, we're looking for passionate wordsmiths to create write ups on gallery receptions, local art news in the Chicago-land area, and originative stories that range from fiction to non-fiction ideas. Our plan is to release posts on a consistent bases to create heavy traffic and popularity so we can look into ways to generate income for our writers. Rather you seeing this being a stepping stone for your real career goals or a place to grow with like a family, we’re here to encourage and support you through the entire process.
Black Yuppie started off as a volume one edition zine in May 2017 by Quest the Legend. The titled originated from a name his father jokingly called him growing up. In this instance, it has been flipped to be defined as a sector of black art that sometimes go overlooked by it’s own community. The book was filled with original and past work from his own collection. In the planning and preparation for Volume two, Quest realized that he wanted this idea to have more of an impact by expanding on the concept and turn it into a creative collective that can help many artists in the Chicago that either needs or want an new avenue for their ideas to flourish. Even though the actual name comes from his own personal back story as a black artist, we would like to be open to all races and identities so we can help tell their stories through their perspectives.
Please email samples, links, bio, and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the subject line please include your name followed by “call for writers” (i.e..Bob call for writers). We will try to contact everyone by the end of June.
